Palestinian students to study in Pakistan’s Medical institutions
Pakistan has authorized Palestinian students to study in Pakistan to resume their medical studies within its borders. This decision represents a significant initiative by Pakistan to support education in regions affected by conflict, specifically enabling students from Gaza to continue their studies in Pakistani institutions.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the country’s statutory regulatory authority for medical affairs, confirmed the approval for Gaza’s medical and dental students to pursue their education in Pakistan.
Since October 2023, Palestine has been embroiled in a conflict with Israel, resulting in substantial human rights violations, including the reported deaths of over 30,000 Palestinians. The conflict has particularly devastated educational infrastructure in Gaza, where 12 higher education institutions have been damaged or destroyed, severely disrupting university education.
In a gesture of Islamic solidarity and humanitarian concern, Pakistan has chosen to facilitate approximately 100 medical students from Gaza in completing their education at Pakistani medical institutes accredited by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
